Longing

IMG_2079I climbed upon the mountains,
Quenching my thirst in the river.
I found heaven in the valley
Of her soul, where ancient rocks,
Sculpted over the aeons,
Lay against the ravine,
Wind moaning in the night.

On bended knee,
Exploring the darkness,
I was drawn forward
By a woman’s voice,
Fragrant swirling senses
Calling me to worship
At the pagan temple.

Entering the chamber,
I am forgiven by the priestess,
Anointed with oil under her robe.
She takes my tender offering,
Removing her veil,
Showing me the way
To enlightenment,
As teardrops glisten,
Falling salty on my lips.
