Metaphysical woman

Rhythmic cicadas chanting
Outside the bathroom window
Make me feel drowsy;
Sensitive fingers poise
Above soapy water
As my mind wanders;
Reflecting, steep in fancies,
Revealing conflict within
This woman’s sexuality,
Defined in self,
Rejecting the ideal
Of shadowy contrasts
On the edge of passion,
Spiritual hunger for touch,
Gently stroking her calf,
Searching for meaning
In lingering caresses,
Softly tracing patterns
On her liquid thigh,
Prey to my natural desires,
Tantalising circles,
Searching for pure emotion,
The mystery of existence,
Needing something to hold
With simultaneous fulfilment:
Being and emptiness,
Ecstasy and sorrow.
