Once an angel

Once an angel,
No matter how far I fall
In the evening,
When her kiss
Is the thing I most desire,
To surrender this body
For all that earthly pleasure,
For all my faults, those sins
That burn my wings
Igniting the trembling soul
Within my pale breast,
When she took my hand,
Whispered in my ear,
Leading my footsteps
To her lover’s bed.
‘Why so sad?’ she asked,
Kissing my tears away
As my heart burst.
There was no turning back
And I fell into her embrace,
Gently laying my face
Against her sweet cheek,
Losing myself in a thousand kisses,
Always an angel.
